High Pressure Raman Scattering studies of the cubic and monoclinic polymorphs of TCNE was conducted at BARC with a home made raman spectrograph and Andor deep cooled CCD (-90C). The cubic form is stable up to about 8GPa , subsequent presuurization leads to a gradual loss of transparency and the material becomes opaque to light at about 14GPa. In monoclynic samples, qualitative changes in the Raman spectra are observed at 3.6GPa, indicating a subtle phase transition around this pressure
